Saint John's, ACNA and Growth of Anglicanism
Saint John's is a Church of the Anglican Church in North America (ACNA). We are a Parochial Church of St. James Anglican Church in San Jose. A "Parochial Church" is a new church in formation. When we have grown large enough, we will spin off from St. James and stand on our own. In the meantime St. James provides us with administrative support, clerical leadership, and mentoring.
As part of the ACNA, we belong to a group of over 8 Anglican churches or missions in Northern California and the Bay Area. There are over 85 or more Anglican churches in California, 1,003 churches and missions in 21 Dioceses in 58 U.S. States and Canadian Provinces. The ACNA is a Province of the worldwide Anglican Communion, which is the 3rd largest branch of Christianity in the world.
The influence of the ACNA in the Bay Area is growing steadily. St. John's joins St. James as an Anglican presence in the Bay Area. Along with ACNA growth in the Bay Area, there are approximately 1,003 parishes and mission throughout fifty eight states and provinces in the U.S. and Canada. Of these, 21 are organized dioceses. California also sees the growth of Anglican churches, with 83 Anglican churches currently.
